WI’s handmade tribute to war dead

The ladies of Handbridge WI have been busy creating handmade poppy wreaths, which have been displayed on the railings at Handbridge Church.

There are 769 poppies, one for each Chester man who was killed in World War One

There is also one servicewoman, Margery Tucker, who was killed going on duty in the WRAF on 31st August 1918. The WI made a wreath to commemorate that anniversary too and held a minute’s silence.
